Jonnier Victorious at World Cup DH #3
6/22/2010Maxxis-Rocky Mountain’s Sabrina Jonnier racked up another World Cup win with a downhill victory at Leogang, Austria. Teammate Cameron Cole took fifth place in men’s downhill at the event, held June 19-20.
Riding Maxxis Wet Screams, Jonnier made her winning run over a muddy course dotted with holes, a result of the hard rain which plagued the contest. She found the conditions challenging: "It is a really hard course, as hard as Maribor, maybe harder," she told cyclingnews.com. "It is just not the conditions I like at all. I like dry, sunny tracks, not this - wet, muddy and yucky. The hardest part for me was the big drops. You can't go too fast or you end up missing the turn, and too slow, you go over the bars. I tried to be fast enough and safe at the same time, just stay on my bike. It was good enough to take the win." Her latest victory vaulted her even further past her competitors in the race for the overall World Cup; Jonnier leads the women’s downhill category by 140 points.
Cole also turned in an excellent performance at Leogang, with a final time just a little over five seconds behind the winning rider’s. Cole, who also rode Wet Screams at Leogang, is fourth in men’s downhill World Cup standings.
Maxxis congratulates Sabrina Jonnier on her latest victory and thanks Cameron Cole for yet another outstanding performance.
